According to my new posting schedule, a podcast was meant to be released this morning. Instead, I decided to try something new and vlog from Monday through Thursday of this past week. I’ve been thinking about getting more into YouTube and video-making lately, mostly because it’s less polished than blog posts. Blog content is decidedly perfectionistic and idyllic, but real life is the often the opposite.
I want you to know that my house isn’t always clean and organized, I’m not always happy and productive, and I struggle withΒ little things and big things–and I think a vlog demonstrates that well.
You can watch weekly vlog #1 below or on YouTube here.
If you decide to dedicate almost an hour of your life (#what, sorry!) to watching this vlog, I would really appreciate your feedback. I had a lot of fun vlogging and would be willing to do it more in the future, but only if it’s interesting to y’all! Let me know!

Excited to watch this, Blair! I’d also love to hear what vloggers you enjoy watching, since you mentioned you watch a lot of Youtube. Have a nice weekend!
Blair Lamb says
Thanks, Rachel! Some of my favorite YouTube channels are Sprinkle of Glitter, Pretty Neat Living, The SacconeJolys, This Gathered Nest, Ellie Steadman, Serina Hwang, and Simon and Martina. π You have a nice weekend, too!

I absolutely loved this! I too love to watch vlogs and how people live their day to day lives. I would love to see more of these especially with the holidays coming up how you decorate, prepare for entertaining and I need that veggie soup recipe π
Blair Lamb says
Thank you so much! <3 I really appreciate it! Holiday vlogging sounds really festive and fun...maybe I'll give it a shot! And here's that soup recipe: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/13338/quick-and-easy-vegetable-soup/ (I added half an onion, two gloves of garlic, used all chicken broth (no water), and lots of seasoning!)

Watching now, and loving it! I hope you decide to keep doing vlogs. π They are my favorite to watch while getting ready in the morning and while cleaning.
Blair Lamb says
Thanks, Emily! I watch vlogs when I’m getting ready and cleaning, too! π xo

Blair,
I just wanted to say thank you! I love what you share. You are such an inspiration! My life has been changed from your “What I love” posts, your simplicity podcast, and now your vlog! I am so grateful that you are willing to share the nitty gritty. You are great! Thank you for being such a positive influence on the world wide web.
Blair Lamb says
Hi Laura! Wow, thank you so much for your kind words. I really appreciate it! Thanks for following along!

Excited to watch later! You should check out a vlog called lex loves Los. It’s Carlos and Alexa pena Vega (she was on spy kids). They talk about their faith a lot and share day to day life. It’s fun!
Blair Lamb says
Oh, I’ll definitely have to check that out!! Thanks for sharing! π
Julia says
I LOVE watching vlogs while I’m cooking or baking! I always need something on in the background. I love it so far (I’m only 10 minutes in!). I really enjoy watching how my favourite bloggers live their day to day lives! I hope you do more in the future π
Blair Lamb says
Hey girl! π Thank you so much for your encouragement and for watching!!
mmlockridge says
YES Blair!!!!! I’m so happy you’re doing this! Vlogs are so much fun to watch and I love getting a sneak peak into people’s lives. And I think it connects the content maker even closer and deeper with their readers and watchers. I especially love it because when someone touches on an issue or subject I deal with it, it makes me feel like I’m not alone!
I watch a youtuber called Young Mama Vlogs (I’m not a mom, but she started with a beauty channel and branched off of that, so that’s how I know of her!) She does weekly vlogs like this and she keeps her videos relatively short(ish). If shortening it it something you want you might check out some of her videos for inspiration! I personally love long videos, so it didn’t bother me at all! π
Thanks for being so awesome!
Blair Lamb says
Hey lady! Thank you, as always, for your sweet comment! π I’ll definitely have to check out Young Mama Vlogs–I’m all about mommy vloggers! And maybe she can help me shorten things…but I won’t hold my breath on that! π Thanks again! XO
Erin Kaul says
This isn’t blog related, but I loved that you had book recommendations! It would be great if you did a post about your favorite or most recommended books of all time!

Blair Lamb says
Haha, I’m glad you liked that–I almost deleted it to shorten the video! That sounds like a fun blog post, thanks for the idea! π
Avery says
Hi Blair!
I definitely know what you mean about how hard it is to make friends in adult life and struggling with feeling like there aren’t many people to celebrate milestones with. I also went to Elon and ended up falling in love with a Burlington boy π We got engaged last November, I graduated this past May and now I still live in Burlington. It’s hard with my family being so far away (in Houston actually) and feeling like I’m alone in this new season of life. His family is from Burlington so we have them but it’s definitely hard not having my family or friends!
In other news, I loved this vlog and hope you continue to do them!
Blair Lamb says
Hey Avery! Your love story is so adorable. I love that! I really appreciate your comment–it’s so nice to know I’m not alone in how I feel. It is so hard to make friends as an adult! Go to all the best Burlington places for me! π
Sydney says
Love this, Blair!! π Vlogs are some of my favorite things to watch. I’d love to see some videos of you organizing and even cooking a meal. It’s so fun to feel like we’re right there with you. Thanks for being honest and sharing your heart. π
Blair Lamb says
Hey Sydney! Thank you so much for watching and leaving such a sweet comment–I really appreciate it! π
Emily Horvath says
Love this! Felt like I was catching up with a friend as I was going about my daily cleaning/organizing tasks. Also love the quick shots of Charley being adorable – perfect for a wannabe dog owner like myself!
Blair Lamb says
I watch vlogs when I clean and organize, too! I’m glad you enjoyed it. And I’ll give Charley some love for you! π Thanks for watching, Emily!
Grace says
I really liked the vlog. I love seeing snippets of other people’s lives. It makes them real and human and someone I can relate to. I really enjoyed where you shared what you were feeling with fitting into a new community and not having the one you used to have. Very raw and spoke to me, as I’m sure it did others as well. It comes across more genuine or raw in the video rather than a blog. I also liked the book recommendations. I agree with the previous comment that a post on that would be interesting. Overall I think the video is interesting and gives many little insights that would take multiple blogs and has a much more personalized touch than a blog.
Blair Lamb says
Hey Grace! Thanks for watching and for leaving such a thoughtful comment. I agree that videos do a much better job of making a person feel “real,” which is exactly why I was interested in dipping my toe into the vlogging world. I really appreciate your support! Thanks!
Ashley says
I enjoyed your vlog and think you should do it more often! Since you asked for constructive feedback, 50 minutes was a little on the long side, but I just watched a little bit at a time. I really appreciated the raw emotion after you watched the documentary, as well as you sharing that part of your goal was to show that people’s lives are not as polished and perfect as they may seem online. Definitely something important to keep in mind! On another note, that red lipstick color is stunning on you, and you should definitely keep wearing it! Do you mind sharing what shade you ended up getting after returning the first one? I’ve been wanting to try red lipstick and am now motivated to do so (-:
Blair Lamb says
Hey Ashley! Thanks so much for watching and for your feedback! My weekly vlog #2 is about 15 minutes shorter (and covers 10 days), and I’m hoping to start keeping each one around 30 minutes. That seems reasonable since it’s the standard TV episode time, I think! π
I also appreciate your lipstick feedback. I haven’t mustered up the courage to wear my red lipstick out and about, but I think I do like it. I just ran into my bathroom to check the shade for you, and it doesn’t say it on the tube. It’s Maybelline 24 Hour Superstay, but I don’t know the exact shade! It’s the reddest one! π Thanks again!
Keeli Marie says
I loved the vlog! It felt so relatable to realize life isn’t always picture perfect. I also really loved the lipstick color and love Super Stay because it doesn’t end up all over your teeth π
Blair Lamb says
Thanks for watching! Life is definitely NOT picture perfect! And thanks for the lipstick input–I haven’t worn it yet, but I’m getting used to the idea! π And yes, superstay for the win!
Erin Reynolds says
From one old soul to another…I LOVED IT! I appreciate your realness, and love your love for warm, cozy, and simple. Can’t wait for the next one!
Blair Lamb says
Hey Erin! I am the oldest soul of all time, so it’s nice to know another one! π YES to warm, cozy, and simple! Thanks so much for watching–I really appreciate it!
Bryn says
I liked the vlog, it was lengthy but made my treadmill walk more bearable! Maybe could focus on M-W-F and keep to 15-20 minutes. I’m sure there’s some magic vlog formula out there as to when people stop paying attention! Also I know this might carry into “me” time but a typical weekend vlog might be cool too! Thanks for sharing so much! I appreciate your authenticity.
Blair Lamb says
Hey Bryn! (Love your name and spelling, by the way!) Thanks for taking the time to watch! I’m going to start aiming for 30ish minute weekly vlogs, so I appreciate you bearing with me with these long ones in the beginning! I’ll think about a weekend vlog, that could be fun! Thanks again! π
Desiree says
Hey Blair, I discovered your blog back in 2013 and I loved basically everything I read, watched or heard from you! This vlog included!
Blair Lamb says
Thank you so much Desiree! I really appreciate you sticking around for so long! π
Grady says
I LOVED THIS!!! (Duh!). Also your lipstick looks stellar! What camera did you use for this???
