The Tension of Joy and Sadness | October: Rooted

November 1, 2017 by Blair Lamb Filed Under: Rooted Series, Vlog

The Tension of Joy and Sadness | October: Rooted | BlairBlogs.com

If you watched Why 2016 Was Tough + My Focus Word For 2017, you know that last year was challenging for me personally, and I am focused on becoming more rooted in 2017. (If you didn’t watch that video, this post may not make a lot of sense!) Also related: Happy Tears, Friend Dates, + Volunteering | January: Rooted, Walking Through Grief + Small Steps Forward | February: Rooted, Travel + Finding Peace | March: Rooted, Frustrated But Hopeful | April: Rooted, Feeling Positive and Thankful | May: Rooted, Ugly Crying and Lessons Learned | June: Rooted, The Fog Has Lifted! | July: Rooted, New Friends + A Different Perspective | August: Rooted and Prioritizing Health + Tribe-Finding | September: Rooted.

Today I’m sharing my October: Rooted video! This month was slow-paced and didn’t include any travel, which turned out to be both good and bad in terms of my rooted journey.

Below is my October: Rooted video! You can watch it below or on YouTube here.

// How was your October? Are you making any progress on your 2017 word for the year or New Year’s resolution?

Blair, I LOVE this series. I know I’ve said this to you before, but I can wholeheartedly relate. It was so tough last year trying to get rooted at Fort Knox and now trying to get rooted in north Iowa. I would love to see more videos for your Rooted series throughout 2018. It definitely helps me to feel that I’m not alone!

    Hi Blair!
I understand your struggles and think you are doing a good job. To have 2 or 3 people that you can call your friends is a blessing. I have none and am not close to my family. Also I lost my beloved house cat a few weeks ago. Since we do not have children our pets have been like our babies. She was also the one helping me get through the loss of our other pet 2,5 years ago.

I wish I would have been more grateful and had not complain about life the way I´ve done lately. I had so much to be grateful for; her still being with us keeping me company just like your Charley, I have a beautiful house, I have my supportive hubby, I´m free to do whatever I want during my days. I should have been more greateful for what I already had.

Now I´m really struggling with grief and do not know how I can continue without her in my life. For the first time in 18 years we have no pets in our home. It feels empty beyond words. All the joy is gone.

I wish I would have been more present with her during this time, enjoying life a bit more. I didn´t see it clearly until I had to put her to sleep. My life was really good before she left. i just didn’t realise it fully until it was too late!

Please try to turn your thoughts around. Look at what you already have instead of what is missing. Do not make the same mistake as I did.
    Best regards, Tina
