What a compilation of unforgettable memories this past year has been. Since last Thanksgiving, I turned another year older, celebrated Christmas in Maryland, watched Riley turn another year older, got engaged, quit my job, began blogging full time, moved to a new city, got married, went on an incredible honeymoon, and settled into newlywed life.
That’s the most change packed into 365 days my life has ever seen.
And for all the belly laughs, all the sitting-on-the-shower-floor-crying, all the late night caffeine-supported wedding planning, all the tension headaches, all the joy-filled long-awaited memories, all the tearful goodbyes, all the times when I thought I really can’t handle this, and then later, but my God really can, all the blessings that felt like blessings, and all the blessings that didn’t feel like blessings at all: to all of this, I can only breathe thanks.
Thank You, Jesus.
And thank you, yeah you, reading this. Because your supporting my dream of writing has been a great source of joy and stability for me this year, even through the endless waves of change.
Happy Thanksgiving, friends. May you bookend today and everyday with thanks and gratitude, regardless of what falls in the middle. For that is the very thing–the practice of uttering thanks in all circumstances–that will transform your heart.
//I am taking the day off tomorrow–there will be no new blog post–to spend time with the people I love.
