Did you know that February 17th was Random Acts of Kindness Day?
Neither did I.
Until this morning, when I received an automated text message from a company I subscribe to reminding me. Thank you, random arts and crafts supply store, for letting me know.
I love random acts of kindness. (Who doesn’t?) I think blessing another person unexpectedly is awesome! In honor of the awesomesauce of RAoK (new term as of now), I’m giving away an fun box of goodies from Dove and OPI. The kind folks at these two companies are pairing up to help us discover our “dark sides” in 2014 (*two eyebrow raises*). They sent me a box of goodies, and a second for one of y’all!
Here’s what’s included:
- Bag of NEW! DOVE® PROMISES® Silky Smooth Sea Salt Caramel Dark Chocolate
- Bag of DOVE® PROMISES® Silky Smooth Dark Chocolate
- Two exclusive NICOLE® by OPI nail lacquer shades inspired by DOVE® Dark Chocolate , “Better After Dark” and “Promises in the Dark”
This giveaway ends next Monday, February 24th at 12:00am and is only open to US residents.
Even if this delicious package of dark chocolate and dark nail polish gets you in a mood that makes you laugh like the hyenas in Lion King, I hope you do take the time to do one random act of kindness by the end of this month! 🙂

I knew that one of my friends loved these cookies from a special bakery. So, when we got together for coffee today I brought some for us to munch on! She loved them, and they were delicious!!

So sweet, Susanna! 🙂

I love random acts of kindness! I like to always take the second best open parking space wherever I go. I like to think that I’m leaving the closest/best parking space for an exhausted mom with little ones or someone having a bad day or someone whose heel just broke. I love thinking that the person will be thinking, “Oh, it’s my lucky day! The front spot is open!” 🙂
Blair Menzel says
Wow, what a thoughtful thing to do! I’ll have to start doing that, especially as the weather gets warmer 🙂

RAoK sounds like a blast to me! Thank you for your inspirational posts lately; missed you in your silence (though I understand the need for it!) Have a blessed Tuesday, Blair.

I love buying Starbuck for the person behind me, they are always so shocked and pleased, it makes their day as well as mine. Sometimes it even starts a chain reaction!
Blair Menzel says
That’s so thoughtful–gotta do it sometime!

I LOVE random acts of kindness. Our local Christian radio station actually had a whole month dedicated to this movement. The most recent one that really touched me was when I was in line at starbucks and asked if I could pay for the person behind me. The radio station actually has a print out that you can leave behind when you perform an act so I paid and just asked the barista to give the car their order and this card. As I pulled away I saw their face and that is what made it all worth it..
Oh. And dark chocolate? Now that is an act of kindness in itself… 😉

Me too! KLOVE? LOVE.

Earlier this week I ordered two books and had them shipped to my grandmother. I think it will be a nice little surprise to help perk her up.

I agree random acts of kindness are great. I have to share one done for me. Someone stole my coat. I had to go into a doctor’s office and only had a blanket in my car. A guy inside the waiting room saw me in my blanket and said that’s the best coat I’ve ever seen. I explained what happened and he said I was joking but I’m so sorry. As he was leaving he said I think I have something for you and came back inside with a coat. How nice of him to replace my jacket someone else had stolen.
Blair Menzel says
Wow, how kind!! Thanks for sharing!

I also love random acts of kindness!! The ones that were most meaningful to me were done after the Sandy Hook school shooting; twitter and other social media blew up with the hashtag #26Acts asking everyone to do 26 random acts of kindness in honor of the 26 victims in the school shooting. In a time where I felt so sad and helpless, it allowed me to bring compassion and happiness to the lives of others, and to myself. It was a way for me to feel like I was helping in some small way. Thanks for the post, Blair! I’ll be sure to do more random acts of kindess in the future!

Yesterday I got a thank you card from the granddaughter of an 93-year old man who recently passed away. We always chatted with him in the local restaurant where we often met. She wanted to thank us for always being so kind to him and wish us all the best for the future… I think that’s the most beautiful act of kindness I have ever experienced.
Blair Menzel says
Oh my goodness, that IS beautiful!

I remember one cold, snowy day my friend and I ran to her car after school to go home and it was covered in snow! We sat in the car for a minute, trying to warm up when all of a sudden the guy next to us started cleaning off her car. It may seem like a small thing, but we were very grateful!

That’s so sweet!
