I was a nay-sayer. For a long time. I couldn’t bear the thought of giving up books–real books–paper books that I can hold in my hands and flip through and underline and highlight and love.
But my world has been rocked.
I didn’t go crazy and buy the Kindle Fire, or even the Kindle Touch… just the original Kindle was all I wanted. It’s around $80 and it has literally changed my life. For the better, might I add.
Prior to purchasing my Kindle in May, I almost never read for leisure. I would read for school assignments and while I was at the beach in the summertime, but never before I went to bed or on a rainy afternoon.
Why? Not because I hate to read; in fact, I love to read. But because reading wasn’t convenient. I’m always on the go and lugging around a heavy book in hopes that I would find the time to read it just didn’t work for me. And because of the inconvienence, I didn’t even bother borrowing or purchasing new books. It was a bad, bad cycle.
Since this fantastic purchase, I have read seven books and am on my eighth. Sadly, I can’t say that I’ve read seven books for sheer enjoyment in the past three years of college!
Now, when I’m heading out to nanny, or going to an appointment I always throw my cute little Kindle in my purse. It’s small, light, easy to carry, and fun to read. I even got a sweet pink case for it!
Because I’ve enjoyed the convenience of being able to read where and when I want to, I haven’t missed paper books a bit. Seriously. What good is the feeling of holding a paper book in my hand if I never, ever read one?
Buy one. Bite the bullet. It’s awesome.
Anyone else own a Kindle, Nook, or other E-Reader? How do you like it? Was it hard to part with paper books?
*I am not being paid to advertise this product, I genuinely love it.*

I just bought a kindle paperwhite yesterday. It hasn’t arrived yet. But I sincerely hope that by purchasing this, it will be one of the best (if not, the best) investment I’ve made for the year 2014. I was hoping I could double up my reading by at least 4x more. Just like you, I love reading a lot but I just find carrying a book around isn’t really convenient at all (unless I bring a bag along which I seldom do any more). I’ll keep you updated a few months from now whether I prefer the kindle or the physical hard-copy book!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on e-reader! 🙂

I just bought the new Kindle Paperwhite in March this year and am having it delivered to me next month. But till then, a friend lent me her Kindle for a week for me to get used to it. I have to say, i really feel it will change my life. Just the portability and convenience factor compared to a print book really encourages more reading time. I don’t think that I will look at the Kindle as a complete substitute to print books, but definitely a reduction of clutter!
