This post could also be appropriately titled “Clothes I Want But Can’t Afford.”
Listen. Let me be upfront–I am a warm weather girl for life. Spring and Summer are my jam. There is a reason why I moved to North Carolina for college and then Texas after I graduated. The warmer, the better. HOWEVER. There is nothing better than Fall fashion. Scarves and boots and vests and jackets and GOSH. It’s wonderful.
I probably love dressing up in Autumn because it’s easy. Jeans + Boots + Long Sleeved Shirt + Scarf = Cute, Put Together Outfit. The other months aren’t as easy. They don’t have a formula. (Oh, and by the way, I am not a fashionista. Formulas work well for me. If you want real fashion inspiration, check out my college friend Alison’s amazing blog.)
Regardless, there are a few Fall styles I can get down with:
Quilted Jacket
This one‘s from Old Navy and it’s $59.94 (what a strange price). I love it for its versatility–it could easily be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. Sometimes it’s nice to take a break from the old favorite pea coat…even if it’s just for a while! I do love pea coats.
Long-Sleeved Striped Dress
There’s not a whole lot of outfit options that are more comfortable or cuter than a long sleeved dress and boots. Leggings underneath if it’s cold. (A great airport outfit, by the way!) This is an adorable navy and white striped colorblock dress from Gap for about $55.
Colored Pants
I wouldn’t rock vibrant, fire engine red pants (I think they’re adorable, just not my style), but these muted burnt orange/red cords are fallen-leaves reminiscent–paired with a cream top and some chunky turquoise jewelry–love! Throw on some leopard flats and call it a great day! This pair of red beauties is from Loft for $59.50.
Interesting Sweater
Everyone has some solid-colored sweaters. YAWNNN. (Wow, sorry, that was dramatic. I love my solid sweaters.) But this–this is interesting and unique. And come to think of it, it’d be adorable with those red pants! Love it. It’s called the “Merino Scarf Sweater” from J.Crew for $98.
Silver Sparkle Belt
There are so many reasons to love this belt. If it’s snowy where you live, the sparkles are like little snowflakes. If it’s cold, the sparkles will cheer you up. If it’s none of the above, it’s just adorable. Every outfit needs some bling. I usually hit my bling quota by wearing faux-diamond earrings (like these), but I think this belt from J.Crew would be another fantastic option. Oh, and it’s $32.50. Wonder if I could DIY it. Hmm…
Colored Blazer
It took me a while to hop on the blazer bandwagon, but now that I’m on, I’m not getting off. They’re the perfect day-to-night piece, and with a bright fun color like this one from Loft, you really can’t go wrong. This one‘s $128 from Loft, which is a bit steep for my budget, but I bet I could find something similar for less!
Striped Tunic
I am currently in a state of utter obsession over tunics. Tunic + Jeans = Cute. Tunic + Leggings = smiley emoticon with two hearts for eyes. Comfort and cuteness. Always what I aim for. I am wholeheartedly against pain for fashion. Comfort above all. This one is great, and at $24.99 from ModCloth, it’s not too pricey!
Polka-Dotted Tunic
I already told you that I was obsessed with tunics. How cute is this? Throw a belt around the waist to dress it up (maybe the sparkly one? 🙂 ) or some fun, dangly earrings. Leggings, black skinnies, or jeans, and you’ve got it made. Throw on some riding boots. Tyra Banks ’bout to call you America’s Next Top Model. This one is also from ModCloth for $37.99.
I could go on. And on…and on. Fall clothes are so stinkin’ adorable. If you want, you can check out my “Stylin'” board on Pinterest to see the latest outfits I’m loving. What’s your Fall wardrobe looking like this year? What are your favorite pieces?
(Also, Happy Birthday to my boo! Love you babe!)
