7 Ways to Make the Mundane Marvelous

September 20, 2013 by Blair Lamb Filed Under: Uncategorized

7 Ways to Spice Up Everyday Life {Making the Mundane Marvelous} | Blair Blogs

{Insert *Sparkle!* here} Just kidding…well, kind of. The weather’s getting colder, day-to-day life is starting to feel just a smidge monotonous (read: boring). No fear! There are lots of ways to make the mundane marvelous! Here are some of my personal favorites…

1. Shower with Candles

Many-a-morning are spent showering sans overhead lights and instead with a few candles sprinkled throughout the bathroom in my apartment. It only takes a minute to turn off the lights and light a candle or two, but it makes a huge difference when I’m sleepy-eyed and want to wake up slowly.

2. Powder Your Shoes

Dr. Scholl’s Soothing Foot Powder is only $4 a pop, but sprinkling a bit in your flats or Toms (basically any shoes you wear without socks) feels great! It keeps your feet dry and fresh all day. Love it.

3. Mist Your Sheets

Before you climb under the covers, spray your linens with a light lavender scent–it will smell oh-so luxurious and help relax and calm you before your slumber. You can make your own with some Lavender Essential Oil (recipe here), or purchase a bottle here for about $7.

4. Make a Cup of Warm

With the degrees starting to shrink on the thermometer, it’s the perfect time to make some coffee, hot cocoa, tea, or apple cider, and curl up to read a book or watch a movie. Setting aside just an hour or two for a date with a hot mug will warm your hands, heart, and soul. 🙂

5. Send a Letter to Someone You Love

It’s amazing how wonderful it feels to write a handwritten letter and send it…yes, through snail mail. Whether or not you get a response, there’s something charmingly simple about a letter. It definitely adds a little something-something to the day-to-day.

6. Carry Hand Cream and Chapstick With You

…everywhere. If you have anywhere near as dry skin as I do, hand cream and chapstick are absolute necessities for the winter months. Spending a few moments throughout the day refreshing your hands and lips will make you feel a little more pampered (and moisturized!).

7. Change Your Backgrounds

Change Desktop Background {Making the Mundane Marvelous} | Blair Blogs

It’s crazy how changing your desktop and mobile phone’s background images can change your mood, too. A long week ahead? Consider changing the images to bright colors, maybe with inspirational and encouraging quotes? If you have a smartphone, I highly recommend the HD Wallpapers Backgrounds app for fresh and fun images!

So go ahead! Make the mundane *mahh-velous,* darling. Have a fantastic Wednesday!

What do you do to make your daily life sparkle? Willing to try any of my suggestions?
